Sneak Peek for Miss R and Mr J

Can we can gorgeous? Because I cannot think of another word to describe this pair of siblings. We spent Friday afternoon downtown and just had so much fun together. Even the kids commented on how much more fun shooting outside was compared to going to an indoor studio. They just went along with anything I wanted to do and I never heard a complaint, Mr J needed just a little time to warm up to me as he was acting shy that day, but he came around! Miss R though, totally not shy and even put on a petti for me even though she's not a girly girl she says!

So P I hope you enjoy the sneak peek of the kids, I'll let you know as soon as I get the full gallery ready. Thanks for spending the day with me and it was a pleasure photographing them!

I was able to meet up with little Miss C again on Thursday for our outdoor portion of the session, again, she was the sweetest little thing! The weather was so much nicer then it was on Tuesday, and her mama brought some great outfits!

Sneak Peek for Little Miss C!

I had the pleasure of Photographing little Miss C today, C was born at 28 weeks and besides being just a little petite (and hey nothing wrong with that!) you would never be able to tell. She was all smiles and a pure joy to photograph.

Today was suppose to be a combo shoot, both studio and on location, but wouldn't you know Mother Nature had other plans! It was so cold and it snowed off and on all day. /sigh So we are going to do the rest of the session another day.

Saturday I had the privilege of shooting these gorgeous sisters! They were so much fun and up for about anything, they are all naturals in front of the camera, my camera loved them :) We only got to shoot about an hour before they had to leave though, I could of stayed and Photographed them all day had we had the time!

Fresh Faces Spring Edition

After the success of my last Fresh Faces contest I have been asked if I was going to run another one. Well here is your answer!

This time however it is going to be a little different, not much but a little.

I am not stopping the age limit at 12 this time, now its 18 years.

Group 1 is the babies group-Newborn to 1 year.
Group 2 is the toddler group-1 year 1 day to 4 years
Group 3 is the little kid group-4 years 1 day to 8 years
Group 4 is the big kid group-8 years 1 day to 13 years.
Group 5 is the teen group-13 years 1 day to 18 years.

Twins and Multiples are welcome

How it works:

Submit a Non Professional Photo to Marie@MarieChampionPhotography.com by March 13th 2009; voting will take Place from March 14th until March 28th. Winning Sessions must take place within 30 days from the end of the contest. Please put FRESH FACES in the subject line of the email. The picture must be current, taken within the past 2 months, please include the child’s name and age, as well as your contact info. No real names will be used online, each entrant will be numbered and go by the first letter of their name.

By submitting your Photo you are giving Marie Champion Photography the right to use the photo submitted on her blog for this contest.

Each Category will have a 1^st place a 2^nd place and a 3^rd place finisher.

The 1^st place finishers from each category all receive a free One Hour Session** with Marie Champion Photography and a discount on collection pricing.

2^nd place Winners will receive a $75* Gift Certificate to Marie Champion Photography, and a discount on collection pricing

52 Pieces of Me.... Week 3 and 4

I did one for week 2, but it's a very personal image that I only shared with my close friends, I did not feel comfy posting it here (sorry!)

I was sick for most of week 3 so I didn't get to take a Picture, so I am counting this one as week 3 and 4's, and yes I can do that!

So this is me being me, I'm a big ole kid at heart, Jordan got this Skateboard for Christmas and being me I had to ride it right away, on Christmas morning I hopped on the board without a moments hesitation, only to fall flat on my butt, umm I guess I was a bit rusty! I came up laughing though, and like I teach my children, always get back up, it took me a little bit to try it again (in my defense it has been COLD!) but I got back up and showed the kids, even if you fail at it once, you continue to try. And heck yes I was scared I would fall again, I am Def not a real kid anymore, I was sore for two weeks after my fall!

Today I was accepted.

Earlier when I checked my email I was thrilled to learn that I had been accepted as a Photographer for two wonderful Charities, two totally different themes but both of them close to my heart.

It's a wonderful program for our Military families that are either in the process of Being Deployed, Already Deployed or are coming home. I encourage everyone to go take a look at their website and get more info, what is offered, to see if you qualify or to find a Photographer in your area.

I have always held a great respect for our Service Men and Women, my husband is ex-military, my recently passed uncle served in Vietnam, and I have countless other friends and family members who are Military men and women.

I am already listed on their Photographer Directory!

The Littlest Heroes, please go read about this Organization, A snippet from their homepage.

"The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. This is our way of giving back and taking a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world.

If you have a child, or know a child, who suffers from any type of serious illness or life altering disability we are here to help. The Littlest Heroes Project provides you with a complimentary photo shoot for your hero and family. I have friends that have littlest heroes of their own, and while any illness is never easy to go through, seeing your child, or the child of someone you love and care for fighting for their life, or having a lifelong disorder to fight is not easy.

Looking for 2010 Senior Reps.

Looking for students from the Vinton and Jackson County areas who will be seniors and graduate in 2010, senior reps receive complimentary sessions, a picture for your yearbook, senior rep cards and a discount on any prints ordered, plus you earn free prints for each referral.

The only requirements are, you must be comfortable in front of the camera and be a member of either Vinton County or a Jackson County High School and be a Senior for the 2010 school year. There is only one spot left for Vinton County and two spots for each school in the Jackson County Area. (Wellston, Jackson, Oak Hill)

52 Pieces of Me.... Week 1

Yea, 52 pictures of me, wonder if I can keep up with it?

Some of my Photographer friends have started a 52 pieces of me group, I joined, the woman that hates being in front of the camera, umm yea me, I think I may be crazy! but I'm always up for a good creative challenge, but really how many Self Portraits can one person take? Well I guess 52 is the answer since we are to do one a week. It's only the first week and I am already slacking, this may not go to well LOL. However I do have a couple ideas, they should cover the first month after that well... we will see.

Thankfully though, these girls are my motivation, and we always inspire eachother and who knows, maybe I will learn something new about myself during this process? Many of my wonderful Photographer friends who are also doing this challenge are on my blog list on the side, some are blogging it some are not, but make sure you check out their links to see what they come up with! We've had some great entries so far!

One Thing I love, One Thing I hate...
I love my lashes, always have, they are thick and long, I don't even have to wear mascara.

I hate the scar on my nose, I had a small cyst grow there while I was Pregnant with my 2nd child, I had it removed once and it grew back, so they had to remove it again.

Since New Years is my Birthday, Megan humored me and went out and stood in freezing weather to give me a couple hours of fun time, yes believe it or not, Photography while my Professional is still fun for me. She even smiled for me, which in itself is a huge thing for her to do when I have my camera out. The crazy thing is, she actually liked her smile picture! lol

Isn't she just beautiful?

She has went through my Photography journey with me, and I am so thankful for her constant modeling, she has gotten really good too! I don't even have to direct her anymore, she knows her angles well!

Tips for Winter Sessions

Layer your clothes, a t-shirt won’t cut it on its own, a tshirt under a nice warm sweater however will.

Cover your head with a hat, most of our heat escapes from our head, keep the heat in and you will stay much warmer.

Kids in general are pretty immune to cold weather, hat/gloves/scarf with the layers and they should be good to go.

I had the opportunity to go shoot this beautiful sibling trio Friday, to bad it started to get chilly on us! It had started out being a great semi warm November Day too!

So we did a combo of Outdoor and Studio shots, you can tell these kids have grown up with a camera in their faces, they are all little hams! lol

A preview of my 2009 Prices, and some info.

Marie Champion Photography has received an overhaul for 2009, I have made the switch from packages to collections, as you will also notice, my session fee increased, however a print credit is now included in the session fee.

My Session fee is now $200 but it includes an $100 print credit, which can be used to purchase prints on their own or applied to any of my collections that I am now offering.

My first print collection starts at $250 and includes the following;
1- 16x20 Canvas
1-16x20 wall print
2-8x10 desk prints
2-5x7 desk prints
16-wallets
3* Low Resolution Watermarked images to share online with friends and family

*Not suitable for printing

A new addition for 2009 is I am now selling digital files,
my first digital collection starts at $400 and includes the following;
5- High resolution Images on a disc
(1)-11x14 Framed Print
(1)-4x6 of each of the 5 images

For 2009 I am also introducing On Location Mini Sessions,
The cost for the Mini session is $100 and includes the following,

I had the pleasure of Photographing a Gorgeous 4 month old little boy today, yes boys can be gorgeous too.

He is such a sweetie!

Brrr... today was sure a chilly one, but little miss K was a trooper and braved the chilly air to have her picture taken, well that is until we went to the Studio where it was freezing! (broken furnace, lovely huh?), so we rescheduled the Studio Shots for a later date until I can get in there and make it all nice and warm for her.

K is definitely a little character, and one of the best behaved 2 year olds I have ever met and she is super cute.

N, A and Grandma, I hope you enjoy your sneak peak and once again, sorry it was so cold! I hope K is feeling well after her Dr's appt.

I had a lot of fun with B today, he took 2nd place Grand Prize in my Fresh Faces Search and we did part of his session today, unfortunately it was raining so we didn't get any outdoor shots! Can't wait for the 2nd part of our session little King ;) Remember you have to show me how to play soccer!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that starting January 1st, 2009 I am no longer offering the portfolio building discount and I have a new pricing structure for 2009 as well.

I'll announce my new structure soon.

However, I'm Looking for a few willing participants to help me fill in portfolio gaps. These Sessions will take place in November/December 2008.

I’m looking for a couple people from the following age groups to help me fill in portfolio gaps.

Two Maternity, 32-38 weeks, willing to expose bare belly and do some outdoor shots. We will also do some studio shots. The Maternity participants will also receive a free newborn session (2 weeks and under).

Two babies- 0-6 month boy or girl, doing creative studio style shots and indoor natural light work, will need to shoot the indoor natural light in your home in the nursery/house.

Four 9-12 year olds, boys or girls, for studio and on location photography. Filled (you may still email if interested, and I'll put you on a list incase a spot opens back up)

Two families- Parent/s and children, both studio and on location photography.

For your time you will receive a high res disk of 5 of the proofs from your session with a signed print release from me, and a substantial discount on print prices if you would like to order prints from this session. A signed model release is required.

Individuals interested must be comfortable in front of the camera; you must be a new face to Marie Champion Photography.

Christmas Mini Sessions, Come have cookies with Santa!

As hard as it is to believe, the holidays are right around the corner, I’m still trying to figure out where the year went, as probably most of you are too!

I’m going to be offering a limited amount of Christmas Mini sessions on November 15^th 2008.

Mini Sessions last 20-30 minutes will be in a Studio setting and will include one of two options for the price. Mini Sessions have there own price list, different then my normal pricing structure.

Option 1 is the Print Package,

(2)- 8x10

(4)- 5x7’s

(16)- Wallets

(25)- Holiday Greeting Cards

(You can add more cards in increments of 25 for an addition $1.00 per card)

Option 2 is the Digital Package,

You will receive three digital files of your choice for making your own Holiday cards, the files will be printable up to an 8x10 image.

Each package is $100, which includes your session and whichever package you choose. No Portfolio Building Discount is given with this special, and cannot be combined with any other offer or discount. You will have 5-7 images to choose from in a password protected gallery on my website, if you choose the Print Package a variety of greeting cards will be displayed in your gallery as well. A deposit (50%) is required to hold your spot as there will be a limited number of spots available, the remainder is due at the time of the session. The deposit is non-refundable.

After your session your child/ren can have cookies and milk with Santa and tell him what they would like for Christmas, during this time one of Santa’s Elf Helpers will take your child’s picture with Santa and print it for you as a keepsake to take home with you that day.

During this time you can look at a variety of sample Christmas card designs and pick your favorites, I’ll include your favorite design/s in your gallery if you chose the Print package, customized to your family.

Extending the Fresh Faces Deadline!

Due to an error with my newspaper ad I have decided to extend the deadline for the fresh faces contest.

Photo's may now be submitted until October 15th and voting will take place from October 16th to October 30th, winners will be announced November 1st and sessions will still need to be completed by November 15th.

Derek and Amber Wedding, Sneak Peak!

I had the pleasure of photographing the most beautiful bride and handsome groom September 13th, their wedding was the most beautiful event I have ever attended, and I have attended quite a few weddings in my life. Amber, you glowed, you looked marvelous, I could tell how much you and Derek love each other, Derek you looked quite handsome in your tux and was a doll to work with, you both were. Thank you again for letting me capture your special day, it was my honor to Photograph two people so much in love.

Fresh Faces Model Search
A chance for your child to appear in Marketing and Promotional Material for Marie Champion Photography.

The contest is open to both males and females in the following age groups,

0-6 months.

6-12 months.

1-3 years.

How it works:

Submit a Non Professional Photo to Marie@MarieChampionPhotography.com by September 30th 2008.
Voting will take Place from October 1^st to October 15^{th 2008} and is public
Only Color or Black and White Images please.
Photos must be current, no more then 2 months old.
By submitting your Photo you are giving Marie Champion Photography the right to use the photo submitted on her blog for this contest.

Each Category will have a 1^st, 2^nd and a 3^rd place finisher.

The 1^st place finishers from each category all receive a free One Hour Session with Marie Champion Photography

All** 2^nd place winners will receive a $75* Gift Certificate to Marie Champion Photography

The Fine Print:

· One winner and two runners up will be chosen.

· You can enter one photo per child for each child in your family. Only non-professional photos will be accepted. Twins and Multiples count as one entry.

· By entering, you are agreeing that I have permission to use the photograph.

· Marie Champion Photography takes no responsibility for copyrighted images submitted to the contest, and will not publish any copyright image.

· Marie Champion Photography reserves the right to disqualify or deny an entry at her discretion.

· The child entered can be from anywhere, but must be willing to travel within a thirty mile radius of Hamden, Ohio.

· A signed model release will be required to receive prize. The purpose of this contest is to find a “fresh face” for use in promotional and marketing materials.

· You will be entitled to special pricing.

· This session is just for one winner of the contest, not older siblings. Should you wish to add older siblings, there will be a $30 additional fee per sibling. Any and all prints provided for the winner will only showcase the winner, not the siblings. Sibling images must be purchased separately, however all sibling purchases will be automatically awarded the special pricing.

· All sessions will last up to 1 hour. Marie Champion Photography will have complete creative control and will guide the winner in what to wear. Both Studio Style Shots and On Location shots will take place.

Senior Reps receive complimentary sessions, senior rep cards and for each paying referral you earn print credits!

To qualify you must be a member of the graduating class of 2009 and reside in either Vinton County or Jackson County.

Basic Qualifications
A. Be a Member of the Class of 2009 at any Jackson County High School or Vinton County HS
B. Be outgoing/comfortable in front of the camera

Hello all of you out there.

As I'm sure you have figured out this is the blog of Marie Champion Photography, here you will find, specials, sneak peaks of your galleries, contests etc.

I will also probably post greeting card templates here for my clients to chose from, some are made by me and some are either templates I have bought or other Photographers have made and kindly shared for use with clients only. Sorry I can not take a picture you already have and use it in any of the templates, only pictures I take personally can be used in any of the templates posted here.
